FAQs

  • I am a proud alum of the Savannah College of Art and Design, where I received my B.F.A. in Photography back in 2013. Since then, I’ve worn many hats in the photography industry. I started off as a documentary and portrait photographer working for various newspapers, magazines, and editorial outlets. I still work in this field today and it informs a lot about how I approach my wedding work! I’ll be sure to give you more personal and professional background details when you inquire! In the meantime, if you’re curious, you can check out my other photo universe at joannakulesza.com.

  • I recently moved my life and business to Golden, Colorado all the way from Austin, Texas. My partner was offered a spot in the PhD program at CU Anshutz, and we decided to take the leap and move! We’re excited to be here and explore everything Colorado has to offer :) I still spend a ton of time in Austin, and you can bet I am up for photographing your wedding anywhere your heart desires!

  • Well thanks for asking! I was so excited to work with Lifetime and A+E Networks last year to create promotional photography and portraits of the season 17 cast of Married at First Sight which was filmed in Denver!

  • My aesthetic is warm, effortless, and emotive, with a focus on capturing quick, authentic moments and crafting beautiful portraits. I meticulously edit images, and incorporate a little bit of grain and node to film in my images to give them an extra special bit of romance.

  • I’ll work closely with you (and your wedding coordinator, if you’re working with one) to create a detailed timeline for the wedding day, which allows me to game plan way beforehand. I also stay alert and observant throughout the day, so I can anticipate and capture any unexpected and cute moments as they happen. :’)

  • A first look is a special, private moment between you and your partner (with me in tow!) before the ceremony. It breaks the tradition of seeing each other for the first time down the aisle and offers some great perks:

Time: Doing a first look means doubling the time you get to spend together on your big day. Why spend precious moments apart when you can kick off the celebration with your best friend sooner? Plus, you get to keep them all to yourself until after the ceremony. Trust me, time flies once the ceremony starts.

Photos: First looks are a game-changer for your photography timeline. Instead of dedicating 1.5 hours post-ceremony to formal photos, opt for a first look and knock out 90% of those shots before the ceremony even begins! This leaves more time for capturing intimate moments between just the two of you. After the ceremony, we'll only need a short break for those family group photos, and then you're free to join the celebration with your guests. I'll make sure to sneak you away for about 20 minutes during the golden hour for some stunning sunset photos. Trust me, it's the best hour for magical shots!

  • I am the main photographer, and although I am totally capable of covering most weddings solo, I often collaborate with a second shooter to ensure comprehensive coverage of your wedding day. Having a second photographer allows us to capture different perspectives simultaneously, resulting in a more diverse and detailed collection of photos.

Adding a second photographer to your package is not automatic, as this helps me keep my prices competitive and suitable for any budget. However, the value and enhanced coverage they bring to your wedding day can be totally worth the investment. If you have any questions or would like more information on the benefits of having a second photographer, feel free to reach out!

  • The choice of adding a second shooter to your package depends on your wedding's size and complexity. For events with 100+ guests or if you're skipping a first look, I highly recommend adding a second photographer. They'll capture moments and details when my focus is on you. For example, during family photos, the second photographer can candidly capture guests at the cocktail hour. This collaborative approach enriches the storytelling, giving you a more memorable collection of photographs.
